Shabal Chides Joho Over Push for Coast Secession

Mombasa politician Suleiman Shahbal has dismissed the call for secession initiated by NASA leaning Coast leaders on Friday. He termed the campaign as "nonsense" saying " only some two leaders" are forcing it on the throats of residents. "It is a continuation of unnecessary political noise which has become their style of politics," he said.

This was after Governor Hassan Joho and his Kilifi counterpart Amason Kingi declared the determination to secede. Together with host of MPs, the duo said the region has been marginalised by governments since independence.

The lot said they will use all legal means, both local and international, to pursue the plan. "It is no longer feasible for us as a people to continue in a country that does not recognize our aspirations as legitimate," the leaders said in a press conference.
