Bill Gates became so rich because of 3 things.
- He had a great IDEA. (He had a vision to see a PC in every home and he had an idea to power all these PC with his own Operating System)
- He created a great product (Windows)
- That served a lot people (1.6 billion devices have used Windows as OS)
The genius behind him was that Bill Gates bought an existing operating system and modified it and sold it to IBM. He was smart enough to keep the rights and licence it to every PC for a small fee. So every time a PC manufacturer makes a computer, they would need to pay Microsoft a small fee to have Windows as the OS.
Windows was very useful and become widely adopted. His Office apps like Power Point, Word, Excel became the standard for office work. Because so many people find these useful, they keep buying his OS and software every time they upgrade to a new PC.
I believe all billionaires become rich by:
- Having a great IDEA
- Making a great PRODUCT
- And selling it to MANY people
